Refunds and billing
Plain answers about plans, cancellation, and getting money back — no runaround.

Where billing stands today
Billing is not switched on yet. Accounts and plan gating exist in the product, but there is no payment step anywhere on this site — nothing here can charge you. This page describes the policy that applies when paid plans go live, so there are no surprises when they do.
How billing works
Options Whale is a subscription: you pick a plan on the pricing page — monthly or annual — and you are billed in advance for each period, until you cancel. Annual plans are charged once for the year at the discounted rate shown at checkout.
Payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply to you — those are added where required and shown before you confirm.
The free trial
Every account starts with 7 days free, with full access to the features of the trial. No card is taken at signup, which means the trial cannot roll into a paid plan on its own — billing only begins when you actively choose a plan. Miss that and the account simply stays on the free tier; nothing gets charged.
Cancelling
Cancel whenever you like, from Settings → Account — no email, no phone call, no retention maze. Cancellation stops the next charge; it does not end access immediately. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account moves to the free tier with your data intact.
Cancelling is your responsibility to confirm — if you are unsure whether it went through, check Settings (it shows the current plan and renewal date) or write to us and we will confirm in writing.
Refunds
Within 14 days of a charge: if Options Whale is not for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full, no interrogation. One refund per account, on a first charge only.
After 14 days: payments are non-refundable and we do not give pro-rated refunds for partial periods or unused time. You keep access through the period you paid for.
When something is genuinely broken: if the Service suffers a prolonged outage or a defect stops you using what you paid for, tell us — we will make it right, which may include a pro-rated refund at our discretion. Service failures should not cost you money.
Where the law says otherwise: nothing here limits refund or cancellation rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction. Those rights always win over this page.
Upgrades and downgrades
Upgrading takes effect immediately: the price difference is prorated for the rest of the current period. Downgrading takes effect at your next renewal, so you keep what you paid for until it runs out — the unused part of a higher plan is not refunded, per the policy above.
Failed payments
If a charge fails, we retry and email you. If it keeps failing, the subscription pauses at the end of the billing period and the account drops to the free tier — your journal data is untouched and comes back in full when you fix the payment method.
Price changes
We may change plan prices. Existing subscribers keep their rate until the end of their current paid period and get reasonable notice before the new price applies to their renewal. If you do not accept it, cancel before the renewal date.
How to request a refund
Email support@options-whale.com from the address on the account, with the word “refund” and roughly when you were charged. Requests inside the 14-day window are processed within a few business days to the original payment method; how fast it lands depends on your bank.
Questions
Anything unclear about billing — before or after you pay — goes to the same address: support@options-whale.com. Billing complaints get answered by a person.
